DNA sugars characterised in unprecedented resolution, atom by atom

For the cover of its latest issue the ACS Central Science journal has selected a piece of work conducted by the Spectroscopy Group of the UPV/EHU's Department of Physical Chemistry, and the Biofisika Institute (CSIC - UPV/EHU). In this research the structure of the sugars forming part of DNA have for the first time been isolated and specified with atomic-level resolution. The necessary instruments were developed for this purpose and that was how unprecedented resolution was achieved.
