Project aims to map DNA of 1,000 people (AP)

This undated handout illustration shows the DNA double helix. Researchers on three continents will join together to catalog the genomes of 1,000 people in an ambitious project that they hope will help determine genetic roots and factors for human disease, the group announced Tuesday.(AFP/HO/File)AP - Any two people may be roughly 99 percent identical at the genetic level. But the small differences are what tantalize scientists, and now they plan to map the DNA of 1,000 people worldwide to examine human genetic variation.
